Princess Beatrice was a surprise attendee at fashion’s night of nights, the MET Gala Ball at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York yesterday. This year’s theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination. Funds raised from the Gala go towards the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute.
Princess Beatrice chose a gown in a deep royal purple by Italian designer Alberta Ferretti. This was a custom gown created especially for the Princess. The floaty layered silk chiffon gown mixes Victorian and Grecian styles together. A high ruffled neck and ruffled sleeve cuffs are accented with heavy beaded jewels. The beaded embellishment continues to run diagonally from the neck and down the shoulder line. The gown features a shirred neckline and waist, sheer long sleeves, a cinched waistline gives way to a full flowing skirt. The gown has a rear zip and is unlined.
The Alberta Ferretti piece was part of the Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear Collection and was look #39. The gown was available for pre-order from Moda Operandi in black and grey, retailing for £4,142. The pre-order on this dress is finished, though you can still view it here.
The label has also been worn by The Duchess of Cambridge, and Chelsea Davey (L) to Prince William and Kate’s wedding.
Princess Beatrice carried a Kotur ‘Espey’ snakeskin black clutch, retailing for £515. It is a rectangular box clutch with hinge and angular black snakeskin panels. A gold clasp is engraved with the label name and topped with a cut glass clasp. The clutch features Kotur’s signature brocade lining and optional chain strap. Princess Beatrice wore a pair of gold metallic mirror sandals. You can purchase a very affordable replicate here.
Princess Beatrice chose a very interesting and pretty headpiece. She wore a series of jewel embellished headbands, in burgundy, yellow, black, blue and pink. The headbands formed an almost Tiara look on the Princess.
This was such a gorgeous evening look on Beatrice, definitely a favourite of ours.
