Ahead of World Mental Health Day this weekend, The Duchess of Cambridge visited the University of Derby to hear more about how students are coping there, through a pandemic and beginning of a new year. Kate chose new pieces from Massimo Dutti and familiar jewellery. You can read more about the event here.

Catherine chose Massimo Dutti’s ‘Handcrafted checked wool coat’, costing £249 here. With two large patch pockets on the front, a peaked lapel and a single-button closure, the coat is made of a wool/nylon mix and its silhouette is a loose ‘car coat’ fit with drop shoulders and wider sleeves. Kate left hers open to reveal her outfit underneath and add a chic casual vibe to this look.

This is a decent match in the sale at Whistles.

Her jumper also came from Massimo Dutti, the ‘100% cashmere crew neck sweater’ in ‘aquamarine’. The jumper has a ribbed neckline, and is rolled at the cuffs and hem, complete with a small brand tag on the bottom front (hidden as the Duchess tucked hers in).

This blue-grey jumper picks up the tone of grey in the coat’s check, pulling the look together. It costs £129 here.

Kate paired this with a pair of pleated black trousers and a croc-effect, square buckle belt. Both of these remain unidentified at present, but these ‘Frieda’ trousers from LK Bennett are a pretty good match; note the wide-set single belt loops, pockets and central fly.

She wore her trusty Gianvito Rossi ‘Piper’ block heels. They are still available here and here for £520, or try these to copy the look.

For accessories, we saw the return of the Halcyon Days ‘Maya’ torque bracelet in aquamarine, which she also owns in pearl. It costs £115, and is made of 18ct plated brass.

Kate wore a relatively new pair of earrings and necklace, that we are only covering now! These are from All the Falling Stars, and were a gift to the Duchess on her visit to Ireland earlier this year. They cost £126 here and £62 here respectively, and are made from 14k filled gold. The necklaces’ discs bear the initials of her children: G, C, L. The detail picture below is, obviously, from a previous engagement when we got a better look at it!

The earrings have been seen previously, including at a Baby Bank engagement in Sheffield last month with her white Suzannah dress, but were unidentified for a while.

Of course we saw Catherine in a mask; this came from Amaia Kids, and is created using the Kate&Millie fabric from Liberty. It costs £15 here.
